Biographical Information[edit]

Mike Ahmed played college ball at the College of the Holy Cross and was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 20th round of the 2013 amateur draft. He played in the Dodgers minor league system from 2013-2018 and briefly reached AAA on a couple of occasions. In 2019 he joined the Seattle Mariners organization and spent the year with the Arkansas Travelers. For 2020, Ahmed went to spring training with the Arizona Diamondbacks where his brother Nick Ahmed played. He did not make the major league roster and the minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19, which effectively ended his playing career. Over seven minor league seasons Ahmed hit .264/.354/.401 while appearing in 502 games.

In 2021 the Mariners hired Ahmed as a coach for the Modesto Nuts. He stayed with the Mariners organization for just one year. In 2022-2023 Ahmed worked as both a coach for Plex Baseball and a health performance coach with his brother Nick Ahmed at 7 Pillar Health & Performance. According to their website, "7 Pillar Health and Performance is a virtual, content-based education system that teaches people how to live healthier and more successful lives."[1]

Ahmed returned to professional baseball in 2024 with the Minnesota Twins organization. He was initially appointed as hitting & development coach for the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. At some point, probably before the minor league season began, he moved to the FCL Twins as their hitting coach and Collin McBride took over Ahmed's position with the Mighty Mussels.
