Biographical Information[edit]

Miguel Gomez pitched in the St. Louis Cardinals (1973-1974), Los Angeles Dodgers (1976) and Toronto Blue Jays (1977-1978) systems. He began his professional career at 16 years old and never played above Low-A.

Overall, he went 5-8 with a 5.04 ERA in 42 games (14 starts). In 134 innings, he allowed 137 hits and 112 walks, while striking out about 83 batters. Control issues hampered him throughout his career, resulting in a lifetime WHIP of 1.858. Perhaps his best campaign was 1976, when he had a 2.91 ERA in 10 games (1 start) for the Danville Dodgers; in 34 innings, he allowed 25 hits and 26 walks, while striking out 26 batters.

He voluntarily retired for 1975, but was reinstated after the season.
