Michel Gorguet was Cuba's top rookie in 2008-2009. A relatively old rookie at age 24, he hit .301/.373/.566 for Guantánamo, playing DH primarily with some action at third base and first base. He hit 16 home runs. He finished third in the league in strikeouts (73). He won Rookie of the Year honors.
