Biographical Information

Second baseman/left fielder Michael Frierson stole 90 bases for the class A Wausau Timbers in 1980, which set a Seattle Mariners organization record. The record was beaten in 1983 when Donell Nixon stole 144 bases with the Bakersfield Mariners. Frierson hit .241/.407/.276 in 1980, the only season in which he was a regular player. He collected 99 hits that year, only 9 of which went for extra bases, but he walked 110 times and scored 83 runs. During the impending offseason, he was picked up by the Baltimore Orioles chain and closed out his career with the Hagerstown Suns in 1981, appearing in a mere 34 games.

On December 16, 1983, Michael appeared as a contestant on the short-lived Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour.

His son, Jarred Frierson, played in the minors in 2010 and 2011 in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization.
