Mettle the Mule

Mettle the Mule, a live mule, was the New York Mets' mascot from 1976 to 1979. Its original name was Arthur. He was not the first mule to serve as a mascot, as the Kansas City Athletics had a mule named Charlie O as mascot in the 1960s.
