Biographical Information[edit]
Merle Settlemire went 0-6 with the Boston Red Sox in 1928, his only year in the majors. He later went on to play and manage in the minors, going 15-0 on the mound for the 1940 Lima Pandas while also managing the club. After retiring as a player, he returned to the field during World War II, going 8-5 with a 2.61 ERA as a 41 year old player/coach with the 1944 Hartford Laurels.
Settlemire had 161 minor league victories in 16 seasons.
