Biographical Information[edit]
Mel Ingram appeared in 3 games for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1929 at age 24, not getting a plate appearance or a chance to play in the field. He had been at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA from 1925 to 1928, and was the only player from Gonzaga to appear in the majors between the years 1925 and 1954. Leon Cadore, who had been at Gonzaga from 1906 to 1908, had finished his major league career in 1924.
The Gonzaga University site says he lettered four times in football, four times in track, four times in baseball and three times in basketball (an injury robbed him of the fourth letter). After a brief pro baseball career he coached at Wallace, ID and Grants Pass, OR for many years.
