Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Mel Cole played minor league ball from 1937 through 1946. In 1937 with the El Paso Texans, in 1938 with the Joplin Miners, in 1939 with the Lewiston Indians and Wenatchee Chiefs, in 1940 again with the Wenatchee Chiefs, in 1941 with the Tacoma Tigers, and with the Spokane Indians as player-manager in 1946. Mel died in the Spokane Indians' tragic bus accident on the Snoqualmie Pass near North Bend, in Washington State, with seven teammates, on June 24, 1946.
