Biographical Information

Maykel Martínez debuted for Matanzas in the 2009-2010 Cuban Serie Nacional, allowing 13 hits, 3 walks and 9 runs in 6 2/3 IP. After a year off, he was 3-2 with a save and a 3.46 ERA in 2011-2012. At age 28, he was excellent in 2012-2013 (4-2, 2 Sv, 1.83, .197 opponent average). He tied Vladimir García, Danny Betancourt and Ismel Jiménez for the most shutouts (2), tied for 5th in hit batsmen (8) and was 7th in ERA (between Raicel Iglesias and Misael Siverio).
