Mavericks Independent Baseball League

From BR Bullpen

The Mavericks Independent Baseball League was formed by the ownership of the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in 2021, after the Volcanoes lost their major league affiliation after the 2019-2021 restructuring of the minor leagues. It played its first year as an unpaid, amateur circuit to preserve its college players' eligibility; despite its non-professional status, it operated and had the talent of a low-level independent league like the Pecos League. It featured many players with previous professional experience, usually from the low minors or indy leagues. The four teams that played in its inaugural season were the Volcanoes, Salem Senators, Portland Mavericks and Campesinos de Salem-Keizer. All games were played at Volcanoes Stadium.
