Biographical Information[edit]

Maury Newlin went 26-6 for Topeka in 1939 and followed that up with a 23-8 record for San Antonio in 1940. He made his major league debut on September 20, 1940, winning a game for the 1940 St. Louis Browns. He came back the following year with the Browns to pitch in 14 games and also pitched 12 games for San Antonio.

Maury was 27 then, a prime age for ballplayers, but he was to miss the years 1942-45, coming back to pitch at the age of 32 for Toledo in 1946.

While Maury died in 1978, his wife Edith lived until September 2009. They were married in 1942 while Maury was in the Navy.
