Biographical Information[edit]

Matthew Grimes pitched in the minor leagues and the CPBL.

Grimes was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 4th round of the 2010 Amateur Draft and the the Philadelphia Phillies in the 31st round of the 2013 Amateur Draft, but he refused to sign both times. The Baltimore Orioles took him in the 18th round of the 2014 Amateur Draft, and he was 1-3 with a 5.32 ERA for the Aberdeen IronBirds in his first season. He was 10-7 with a 4.14 ERA for the Delmarva Shorebirds in 2015, then he went 8-4 with a 1.45 ERA for the Frederick Keys in 2016. He also pitched 11 games with the Bowie Baysox, but his ERA was 4.68 with a 3-5 record. He led O's farmhands in wins.

In 2017, Grimes split times between Bowie and Frederick again. He was 1-2 with a 3.66 ERA for the Keys, but he struggled with the BaySox as his ERA was 5.40 in 17 games. He improved to a 3.94 ERA in 34 games in Bowie in 2018, but the Orioles still released him. He then went 1-5 with a 3.72 ERA for the York Revolution, and he signed with the Lamigo Monkeys in 2019. However, he only went 1-1 with a 6.08 ERA, and his professional career ended.
