Biographical Information[edit]
Matt Backert has been a college coach.
He was All-Conference in both baseball and soccer in college. He was a baseball coach ambassador for the US State Department from 2007-2010, working in China and Nicaragua to develop baseball. He became head coach of the John Carroll School in 2014-2017 and assistant at CCBC Essex in 2019. Backert was the head coach at CCBC Dundalk from 2020 to 2023 before being named the first head coach at Notre Dame of Maryland University.
Backert also has taught at The Highlands School.
