Canadian Mathieu Beauchamp was the head coach for the Hawks de La Guerche de Bretagne in Division Elite in 2008. He accepted the position with the club in March 2008.
He was 2-2 with a 5.22 ERA for the club in 2008 and hit .441/.525/.500 in limited time in the field.
He played Midget AAA baseball in Gatineau, Québec as a pitcher and a utility player. (As a youth, he was a utility player, but became a pitcher at age 18). He was also part of the Baseball Canada Academy for 4 years, and attended a training camp for the 35 best Canadian players in preparation for the 2000 World Cup, but he was injured and unable to play.
Right before joining the Hawks, he was a trainer in a sports education school in Gatineau, and he also coached a Midget AAA team.
He also was the head of the team's delegation to the 2008 Challenge de France finals.
