Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Mason McVay began his professional career in 2012.

McVay pitched for Florida International University in 2009 as a freshman, then redshirted in 2010 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

McVay was taken by the San Francisco Giants in the 26th round of the 2012 amateur draft. With the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes in 2012, he posted a 1.19 ERA in 18 appearances, striking out 43 batters in 30 1/3 innings. With the Augusta GreenJackets in 2013, he was 3-5 with a 4.12 ERA in 51 appearances, K-ing 75 batters in 67 2/3 innings. He went 0-5 with a 4.38 ERA in 47 games for the San Jose Giants in 2014, whiffing 83 batters in 72 frames. He began 2015 with San Jose.
