Biographical Information[edit]
Masatomo Uematsu pitched in Japan from 2008 to 2015. His entire career was spent in the minor league Eastern League, with the affiliate of the Chiba Lotte Marines there. The exception came in his final season, 2015, when he pitched for the Marines in the Pacific League. He is credited with making only 2 starts at the highest level, going 0-2, 7.88, but one of the games included a historic feat: on June 11th, he surrendered the 2,000th hit in the career of Kazuhiro Wada, a single, allowing him to join the meikyukai. Wada was only eight days shy of his 43rd birthday at the time, making him the oldest player to achieve the prestigious mark, having gotten off to a belated start at the highest level of Japanese baseball due to attending college and playing in industrial leagues for some time.
Except for that one event, Uematsu's career was unremarkable, as his minor league record is not particularly impressive.
