Biographical Information[edit]

Masashi Sajikihara pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball for 6 years.

Sajikihara was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the 4th round of the 2003 NPB draft, and he had a 3.48 ERA in 44 appearances in 2004. He completed an immaculate inning on September 6, 2005, and he ended up having a 3.66 ERA in 26 games that season. Sajikihara relieved Kyuji Fujikawa in 2005 Nippon Series Game 3, but he surrendered a grand slam to Kazuya Fukuura. Hanshin was swept by the Chiba Lotte Marines.

He pitched 15 games with a 3.18 ERA in 2006, and his ERA rose to 4.58 in 17 games in 2007. He stayed in the minors in 2008, and his ERA was 1.89 in 15 appearances in 2009. He set the NPB record for pitching 115 games since his debut without a losses on September 21, 2009, breaking Eiji Kiyokawa's record. Sajikihara allowed 5 runs in 7 innings in 2010, and he was released after the 2011 season. The Seibu Lions signed him, but he didn't pitch any games with the big club in 2012 then he retired.

Overall, Sajikihara was 5-2 with a 3.56 ERA, struck out 155 and pitched 154 1/3 innings in 6 seasons in NPB.
