Biographical Information[edit]
Marvin Jonathan was an outfielder for the South African national team. In the 1998 Baseball World Cup, he was 0 for 8 with a walk while splitting right field with Ian Holness. He split CF with Jason Cook in the 1999 All Africa Games, backing up Holness in right as well. He did not make the 2000 Olympic roster, though Holness did. Jonathan was back with South Africa for the 2001 Baseball World Cup, hitting .182/.217/.182 as their regular center fielder; he struck out in 9 of 22 AB. He handled 29 chances in center field without an error and had one assist.
He played in the 2002 Haarlem Baseball Week, going 0 for 13 with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts. In the 2005 Baseball World Cup, Marvin batted .125/.323/.250 with 7 walks in 8 games. No other teammate even managed two walks.
