Biographical Information[edit]

Marvin Hecht worked as a minor league umpire from 1952 to 1957. He had previously served in the United States Navy at the tail end of World War II, in 1945 and 1946. His umpiring assignments were in the Sooner State League in 1952 and 1953 and in the Three-I League in 1957.

He was brought back to work one American League game as a replacement umpire during the umpires' strike in 1979. The game took place in his hometown of Chicago, IL. He later was the long-time owner of Cut Rate Toys in Chicago. He played classical piano concerts for charities.
