Biographical Information[edit]

Marty Clary was signed as a 3rd round pick in the 1983 amateur draft by the Atlanta Braves and scout Stu Cann. He attended Northwestern alog with another big league pitcher, John Trautwein. Marty went 14-9 for the Greenville Braves in 1984 and was with the Richmond Braves for part or all of each season from 1985 to 1989. He spent parts of three seasons in the majors with the Bravos, battling to a 5-14, 4.48 record in 58 games. After a solid 4-3, 3.15 mark in 1989, including a five-hit shutout of the St. Louis Cardinals in August, he fell hard to a 1-10, 5.67 mark in 1990. He was released that November and doomed to kick around the minors for the rest of his playing days.
