Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Marty Baier was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 12th round of the 1981 amateur draft. He played in their system until 1983, hitting .279/.352/.391 with 14 home runs and 127 RBI in 242 games. He peaked at A-ball.

He died at the age of 21 on March 22, 1985 after colliding head on with another vehicle in an automobile accident. The driver of the other car died as well.
