Biographical Information[edit]

Marshall Quinton played in the American Association in 1884-85, starting at age 32.

Quinton was recently researched by SABR. He apparently was arrested twice for stealing, once in 1878 and once in 1900. In 1880 he listed his occupation as "ballplayer" for the Census.

He was born in Philadelphia and was living there in 1870, so presumably he spent his whole childhood there. However, in 1878 he was arrested in Canada, in 1880 he was in Albany, and in 1900 he was arrested in New Jersey.

"Marsh Quinton is now catching Blakley (sic), of the Portlands, and doing it well, too." - Sporting Life, Aug. 26, 1885
