Biographical Information[edit]

Mark Ryal played in 6 seasons for 5 different teams between 1982, when he made his debut with the Kansas City Royals, and 1990, when he played his final game with the Pittsburgh Pirates. His most consistent playing time was as a member of the California Angels in 1987. He hit 2 home runs on May 13th that year against the Detroit Tigers. The homers were hit off Nate Snell and Jeff M. Robinson. The Angels lost the game 10-7. Ryal did not have a great defensive record in his time in the majors. Playing first base and the outfield, he committed 5 errors in 64 games for a career fielding percentage of .965.

According to an article, Mark had the most pinch hits in the American League in 1987. His professional career ran 16 years, including two batting titles with the Buffalo Bisons and a couple of years in Japan with the Chunichi Dragons in 1991 and 1992.

After his playing days, he coached college and high school baseball, and was baseball coach at Inola High School in Oklahoma as of 2005. His son Rusty Ryal played in the majors as well.
