Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Mark Montgomery began his professional career in 2011.

He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 11th round of the 2011 amateur draft and began his professional career with a 1.91 ERA, 15 saves and 51 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings between the Staten Island Yankees and Charleston RiverDogs. For the Tampa Yankees and Trenton Thunder in 2012, he was 7-2 with a 1.54 ERA in 46 games, saving 15 matches and striking out 99 batters in 64 1/3 frames. He was a MiLB.com Organization All-Star, a Florida State League Mid-Season All-Star and - after posting a 2.61 ERA in nine games for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League - was named to the AFL All-Prospect Team and an AFL Rising Star. He had a 3.38 ERA in 29 games between the GCL Yankees 1, GCL Yankees 2 and Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders in 2013, while averaging 11.7 Ks per nine innings. In his first taste of Triple-A, he had a 3.38 ERA in 25 games. Between the Thunder and RailRiders in 2014, Montgomery had a 2.10 ERA in 39 games.
