Biographical Information[edit]
Mark Ekeland was a college coach for many years.
He was a state champion in basketball in high school and played baseball and football in college. He was 52-87 at Jamestown College from 1979-1983 and also was assistant football and men's basketball and head coach for women's basketball. He then was 561-345-2 at South Dakota State University from 1984-2003. He took the team to the 1984 Division II College World Series, their only trip to the Division II College World Series. He set a school record for wins in 1993 and 1994 with 39, going 39-10-1 the latter year. He won North Central Conference Coach of the Year five times. He set the South Dakota State record for wins.
