Biographical Information[edit]

Minor Leaguer Mark Bonner played in the Atlanta Braves and California Angels systems from 1980 to 1985.

He was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 27th round of the 1978 amateur draft, a couple picks ahead of pitcher John Martin, but opted not to sign. He was then taken by the Atlanta Braves in the 22nd round of the 1980 amateur draft and signed.

He spent two years in the Braves system and, after finding little success there, moved to the Angels system for 1982. With the Danville Suns that year, he hit .254/.360/.475 with 24 home runs, 91 RBI and 87 runs scored in 134 games. He followed that with 16 home runs and 68 RBI for the Redwood Pioneers and with the Pioneers in 1984, he hit 20 home runs with 92 RBI and 85 runs scored. He struggled once he reached the mid-minors in 1985, however, and his pro career was over.

Overall, Bonner hit .257/.356/.431 with 67 home runs and 302 RBI in 503 games over six seasons.
