Biographical Information[edit]

Marie Kruckel, nicknamed "Kruck," was an outfielder and pitcher in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League from 1946 to 1949. She played for the South Bend Blue Sox (1946 & 1948), Fort Wayne Daisies (1947) and Muskegon Lassies (1948 & 1949).

In 1946, she hit .000 in nine at-bats. The following year, she collected four hits in 60 at-bats for a .063 batting average. Used as a pitcher for the first time in 1948, Kruckel was 9-4 with a 1.65 ERA in 19 games, while at the dish she hit .167 in 48 at-bats. In 1949, she was 1-7 with a 2.75 ERA in 15 games. In 119 at-bats, she hit .193/.364/.219.

Overall, she hit .148/.277/.161 in 236 at-bats. She found considerably more success on the mound, going 10-11 with a 2.11 ERA in 34 appearances.

After baseball, she taught physical education and coached softball for 38 years at Clay High School.
