Biographical Information[edit]

Marcel de Bruijn pitched and coached for Feyenoord in the Netherlands. His son Robert de Bruijn played as well, while his wife Peggy and daughter Mae were both softball players and managers.

De Bruijn beat the Giants Diemen in a complete game in the 1968 promotion series to win a spot in the Hoofdklasse. He appeared in the Hoofdklasse from 1969-1975 and in 1980. He led the league in games pitched (16), innings (108 2/3) and wins (9, tied with Jan-Dick Leurs) in '69. In 1972, he led in IP (125 2/3) and tied Marco Nagelkerken for the most starts (15). Three years later, he led in complete games (13) and starts (14). He also hit at least 14 home runs in his career. He also played soccer for Feyenoord.
