Biographical Information[edit]

Man-ho Choi played 12 seasons in the Korea Baseball Organization after having represented his country in the Olympics.

In the 1996 Olympics, Choi hit .385/.433/.692 with two homers, six runs and six RBI in seven games as South Korea's starting center fielder. He led the team in slugging and tied for the RBI lead. Choi began his pro career in 1997 with the Hyundai Unicorns, hitting an unimpressive .238/.301/.327 in 87 games. His 223 AB that year were the highwater mark of his career as his playing time would drop from there. As a backup outfielder, he hit .193/.237/.364 for Hyundai in 1998 (9 of 17 hits going for extra bases) and .238/.294/.413 in 1999. He was 5 for 20 with two walks in 2000 and started 2001 0 for 5.

Choi then moved to the LG Twins. For the remainder of 2001, he hit .182/.308/.291 in 97 plate appearances over 51 games. He hit .248/.345/.357 in 2002, .198/.226/.284 in 2003 and .253/.335/.353 in 2004, when he had 170 AB in a career-high 112 games. He did not play in 2005 then produced at a .240/.321/.440 rate in 50 at-bats and 46 games in 2006.

Starting 2007 with the Twins, Choi was 0 for 4 then moved to the Lotte Giants, where he hit .220/.250/.320 in 50 more at-bats. He was just 3 for 36 with a homer in 2008 and 0 for 4 in 2009 to end his playing career. Overall, he had hit .223/.294/.333 in KBO play.

Choi then became a coach with the Hanwha Eagles.
