Biographical Information[edit]
Makoto Maeda was an outfielder for the Japanese national team in the 1987 Intercontinental Cup, winning a Bronze Medal. In the 1988 Baseball World Cup, he hit .182/.209/.303 with 3 runs and 3 RBI in 13 games but played perfect defense in center (20 PO, 1 A), where he started for Japan. He also was 2 for 10 in the 1988 Olympics, when Japan finished second to the US but baseball was not a medal event. In the finale, he started in center and hit 9th, going 0 for 1 before Kenji Tomashino took over in a 5-3 loss to the USA.
