Biographical Information[edit]

Pennsylvania native Lynn Myers, the younger brother of Billy Myers, spent nine active seasons in professional baseball from 1933 to 1942. The nineteen year old infielder was signed as an amateur free agent by the St. Louis Cardinals, during the 1933 season, and spent his entire career with the St. Louis organization.

After a little more then four seasons in the lower minors Myers would join the major league St. Louis Cardinals on July 13, 1938. He appeared in seventy games at the shortstop position and hit at .242 clip in 227 at-bats. Lynn spent the entire 1939 year with the Cardinals, still in the infield, hitting at a .239 average in 74 games. He was not invited back the following season and spent the rest of his career in the minor leagues.

Myers had three good years during his minor league time. His first came in 1934, his second year in the pros, when he hit at a .330 clip in a split season affair for the Greensburg Trojans of the class D Pennsylvania State Association and the Huntington Red Birds of the class C Middle Atlantic League. He was on his way to another good year in 1938, when he was moved up to the major leagues, playing for the Asheville Tourists of the class B Piedmont League. When moved up he had appeared in 77 games and was hitting .307 in 319 at-bats.

Myers spent his last three years (1940-1942) all in AA ball and in 1941, with the Rochester Red Wings of the International League, he hit for a .305 number in 83 games. He left the game the following season at the age of 28 with a minor league career of 547 games and a .275 batting average with 23 home runs. He fielded his infield duties at a .945 percentage.

After baseball Myers returned to his native Pennsylvania where he worked and lived until his death on January 19, 2000, in Harrisburg, PA. Lynwood Lincoln Myers was 85 years of age.
