Biographical Information

Ernest Luther "Bonnie" Bonin played one game in April of 1913 for the St. Louis Browns and the following year, 1914 with the advent of the Federal League, appeared in 20 games early in the season for the Buffalo Buffeds.

Luther was born in Greenhill, IN, a small town in west-central Indiana. At age 22 in 1910, he played for the Canton Deubers, hitting .281 with 8 home runs and 10 triples, and in 1911 appeared in 18 games for the Columbus Senators, hitting .386 with 4 triples.

Sporting Life of April 6, 1912 stated that he had a contract with the Browns. However, he did not appear in the majors that year. The issue of October 26th listed him as "incapacitated" but reserved for the following season.

Bonin spent part of 1913 in Columbus, hitting .287 in 32 games. In 1915 he appeared in 15 games with the Marion Senators, hitting .456. In 1916 he was in 32 games with the Muskegon Reds.
