Biographical Information[edit]
Luciano Miani spent over 60 years as a player and coach in Italy.
He began playing baseball in the minor Serie C in 1959. He was player-coach for the Black Panthers Ronchi for four years in the late 1960s and early 1970s, during which time the team was in Italy's top league, Serie A1. He was head coach of Alpina Trieste in 1977-1978 and coached in Venezuela. He then coached the Italian junior national team. He turned down some offers to coach in Italy's top level to work with players at lower levels. His team won the Serie A2 title in 1990. He remained a head coach as late as 2012, at age 78. He then was a pitching coach for youth teams.
