Biographical Information[edit]

Lucas Ramírez has been on the Brazilian national team. He is the son of Manny Ramírez. [1]

The Los Angeles Angels took him in the 17th round of the 2024 amateur draft; he signed for a $150,000 bonus. His mother Juliana is Brazilian so he was able to play for Brazil in the 2026 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. While he was their youngest player (about two months younger than the next, Tiago Nishiyama; teammate Tiago Da Silva was playing for Brazil before Lucas was even born), he was hardly a bench warmer. He started in right field and batted second. He was not the only Florida-born son of a former major leaguer on the team, which had Dante Bichette Jr. at first base. Lucas grounded out against Julio Teheran of Colombia in his first time up but later added a single off Ezequiel Zabaleta, one of their three hits that day. Brazil won their next three games to earn a spot in the 2026 World Baseball Classic; Lucas was 5-for-13 with a double, three runs and two RBI. He tied for 10th in the qualifiers in hits and tied for 8th in runs. [2]
