Biographical Information[edit]

Loy Dale Cruse was the head baseball coach at McKendree College from 1957-1963 and at the University of Wisconsin - Superior from 1964-1967.

Cruse graduated from Cave-In-Rock High School in 1951. He earned a bachelor's degree from McKendree College in 1955, a master's degree from Indiana University in 1958, a doctorate from Indiana University in 1960, and a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1968.

He was an instructor and coach at four institutions of higher education: McKendree College (1957-1963), the University of Wisconsin - Superior (1963-1967), Illinois State University (1967-1973), and the University of Utah (1973-1997).

Cruse earned seven letters as a student-athlete at McKendree College, where he participated in baseball, basketball, and track and field. He is a member of the McKendree Athletic Hall of Fame.
