Lovejoy Saungweme played catcher for the Zimbabwean national team in the 1999 All Africa Games. He went 3 for 6 with a steal, two doubles and a RBI while splitting catching duties with Floyd Karidza on the Bronze Medal winners. He was the only player from the 1999 All Africa Games who was still with their country for the 2019 Africa Cup Baseball Championship. He was their starting backstop in that event, hitting .214/.353/.286.
