Biographical Information[edit]

Lou Schiappacasse played a couple of games in right field for the Detroit Tigers in 1902. He also had a minor league career through 1910 as a third baseman, second baseman and shortstop.

He died young in 1910 from typhoid fever according to thedeadballera.com.

Lou is remembered for having one of the longest last names among major leaguers. Sporting Life butchered his name in the September 20, 1902 issue, calling him "Schiacapasse" in one place and "Shipp" in a box score.
