Biographical Information[edit]

Lou Polchow appeared in one game in the majors in 1902. His minor league career ran over a decade.

Lou was born in Mankato, MN in 1880. He was the twentieth major leaguer born in the state of Minnesota. His minor league career was spent in various parts of the country, with the last five seasons in the New York State League.

In his one game in the majors, Lou gave up five runs during eight innings of work. However, the runs all occurred in the first two innings - thereafter he settled down and allowed no runs.

Sporting Life reported that he died in 1912 of Bright's disease. It also mentioned that a number of other players from the 1906 Scranton team had died by 1912. One of Lou's teammates on the 1906 Scranton team was Moonlight Graham, who led the team in batting.
