Biographical Information[edit]
Lindsey Nelson was a broadcaster for the New York Mets from the club's inception in 1962 to 1978. He joined the San Francisco Giants in 1979 and remained with the team for three seasons.
In addition to his baseball work, he was one of the most prominent football broadcasters of his time, working both college and professional games. He was a football announcer for CBS for 21 years, and broadcast football games of the University of Notre Dame for 13 seasons. He broadcast a variety of other sports in his spare time.
While his broadcasting voice was very middle of the road, he was known for his outlandish dress, and particularly his psychedelic sports jackets.
The University of Tennessee plays their home games at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
