Lew Jenkins
Biographical Information[edit]
Lew Jenkins has coached baseball for over 40 years.
Jenkins was coach at Surrattsville High School from 1969-1993, winning 326 games, a Maryland state record at the time of his retirement. He was assistant coach at George Washington University, Georgetown University and St. Mary's College of Maryland (1994) as well. In 1995, he became head coach of St. Mary's. Through 2011, he was 290-302-3, setting school marks for career wins and seasonal wins (26 in 1999). Additionally, he has scouted for the Texas Rangers and Pittsburgh Pirates. He coached for the USA in the 1985 World Junior Championship and 1992 World Junior Championship; each time, they won a Silver Medal.
Jenkins announced his retirement effective at the end of the 2016 season [1].
