Leslie R. Pratt
Lester Pratt began his professional umpiring career in the New York-Penn League in 1975 and 1976. He then worked in the Carolina League in 1977 and 1978 before being hired by the American League as a replacement umpire when the regular umpires went on strike at the start of the 1979 season. He worked a total of 14 games, all of them played at Fenway park in Boston, MA. In one of the last games that he worked, on May 16th, he ejected Rick Burleson for bumping him after a called third strike, resulting in a three-game suspension for the infielder.
He was listed on his Sporting News umpire card as a resident of West Barnstable, MA.
