Biographical Information[edit]
Les Novack worked as a replacement umpire for five American League games when the regular umpires went on strike at the start of the 1979 season.
Based in New Hope, MN, he was the most distinguished fast-pitch softball umpire in the state of Minnesota, being named umpire-in-chief for the state in 1964 and continuing in the role for at least the next four decades. He umpired at all levels of softball, from national to NCAA tournaments, to the International Softball Federation World Championships.he has conducted umpiring clinics around the world and as elected to the International Softball Congress Fastpitch Hall of Fame in 2002.
