Biographical Information[edit]
Shortstop Les Barnes spent seven years in the minor leagues, playing in 1944 (when he was 17 years old) and from 1947 to 1952. Not strong with the bat, he hit only 9 home runs in 620 games and 2,157 at-bats, or one every 69 games and 240 at-bats.
He played briefly with the Hollywood Stars in the Pacific Coast League his first year. In 1948, he had the best campaign of his career, collecting 134 hits and 163 total bases in 121 games for the Billings Mustangs.
Overall, he batted .253 with 545 hits in his career.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
