Leoš Kubát has pitched for the Czech Republic national team and has also played professionally in the Netherlands.
Debuting in 1999 with Technika Brno in the Czech Republic, Kubát helped Draci Brno finish third in the 2004 European Cup in his first year with the club, a high finish for a Czech entry. He had gone 5-4 with a 2.00 ERA in the regular season. Kubát was 1-0 with a 6.00 ERA in the 2001 European Championship. Kubát had pitched for the Czechs in the 2002 World University Championship, going 0-2 with a 16.20 ERA. In the 2003 European Championship, he pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings, though he hit 2 batters. The right-hander was 0-1 with a 15.12 ERA in two rough outings in the 2005 Baseball World Cup, getting the defeat in a game against Spain. He had a 5-7, 3.50 record in the Czech league. In the 2005 European Championship, Kubát tied Meleti Melehes for third with 14 strikeouts; he was 0-1 with a 1.69 ERA, losing to Marc Cerbone and Italy.
Kubát signed with DOOR Neptunus for 2006 to play in Hoofdklasse but only had a 8.57 ERA in 7 games (5 starts), allowing 29 walks and 20 hits in 21 IP, though he struck out 17. The wild man went 1-1 overall for the defending champions.
Kubát was 1-1 with a 5.00 ERA for the 2007 European Championship. In the 2007 Czech season, he went 7-1 with a 0.96 ERA and 78 strikeouts in 75 1/3 IP. He was 4th in the league in ERA, led in strikeouts and tied for 4th in wins. He was 1-1 with a 1.00 ERA, striking out 9 in 9 innings, in the 2007 European Cup.
In the qualifiers for the 2009 European Championship, Kubát was 1-0, allowing one hit and no runs in four innings for the Czech Republic and fanning six. During the 2008 Extraliga, Kubát was 4th in strikeouts (69), going 4-6 with a 3.66 ERA for MZLU Express Brno.
In the 2009 European Cup, Kubát allowed one hit and no runs in 3 innings and got a win over the Templiers de Sénart.
