Biographical Information[edit]
After graduating from Bethel High School, Leonard Hurgin served in the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he played one season of minor league ball. A pitcher, he split the 1947 season between the Lawton Giants of the Sooner State League (3-5, 4.57) and the Fort Smith Giants of the Western Association (3-2, 6.94). He later worked for the U.S. Post Office and was postmaster of Bethel, Connecticut for nearly 20 years.
