Biographical Information[edit]
Leonard Cumberbatch played for the Panamanian national team in the 1953 Amateur World Series; his 16 runs tied Dario Rubenstein for the lead. [1] He led Panama in steals, runs and homers in the local series that year. [2] He played in the minors in 1955, hitting .293/.383/.407 for the 1955 Kingsport Cherokees and fielding .914 at short. He scored 87 runs and stole 25 bases. He tied Johnny Charles and Wayne Wallace for 10th in the Appalachian League in runs and was 5th in steals, between Frank A. Tepedino and Joyce Laney.
