Biographical Information

Lenny DiNardo is a left-handed finesse pitcher who last played for the Kansas City Royals.

DiNardo was drafted by the New York Mets in the 3rd round of the 2001 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Joe DelliCarri and made his pro debut that summer. The Boston Red Sox acquired DiNardo from the Mets organization in the 2003 Rule V Draft. He saw action in 22 games for the Sox in 2004, but was not on the postseason roster, although he received a World Series ring. DiNardo bounced between the Red Sox and the Pawtucket Red Sox in 2005, as he had five separate stints with the parent club.

DiNardo pitched in the 2006 World Baseball Classic for Italy, in spite of the fact that he had never actually been to that country (His great-grandfather emigrated from Italy in 1915). He also played for the team in the 2009 tournament.

Notable Achievement

• Won a World Series with the Boston Red Sox in 2004 (he did not play in the World Series).
