Biographical Information[edit]
Len Stockwell appeared three widely-spaced times in the majors, in 1879, 1884, and 1890. In 1879 he was a 19-year-old rookie, while both 1884 and 1890 were years in which there were three leagues and extra talent was needed.
He improved as he went along - his batting average increased over 100 points each time he came back to the majors.
Although he did not appear in 1887, there is an Old Judge baseball card of him from that year.
He is mentioned in the book A Fine-Looking Lot of Ball-Tossers: The Remarkable Akrons. He played for the Akrons along with the young Bid McPhee.
