Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Lefty Gilday played one minor league season, going 13-9 with a 4.13 ERA for the Bluefield Blue-Grays in 1952. At the plate, he was 18 for 83 with 8 walks and a double. Following his baseball days, he was involved in a bank robbery in 1970 in which he shot and killed a police officer. He was sentenced to death for the crime, but the sentence was later reduced to life in prison. He died in prison at age 82.
