Biographical Information[edit]
Illinois native Lefty Atkinson's professional baseball career consisted of one appearance as a pinch-runner for the Washington Senators on August 5, 1927. There are no known appearances for him in the minor leagues. He served in the military during World War II and was a maintenance worker for the Gas and Light Coke Company. Atkinson died at his home in Chicago, IL, from pneumonia on February 2, 1961, also suffering from heart disease. He was 55.
